B4: Describe different ecological systems on earth.

Curriculum Organizing Questions	What kinds of habitats are there near our school? What kinds of habitats are near your house? What are some of the ways that ponds are like oceans? What kinds of places do things live that people could not? When we describe the places where things live, what kinds of information should we make sure to include?
Elaboration	The world contains a wide diversity of physical conditions, which creates a wide variety of environments; freshwater and oceanic, forest, desert, grassland, tundra, mountain, and many others. Students should investigate the habitats of many different kinds of local plants and animals. SFAA p. 65
Specific Ideas	Living things are found almost everywhere in the world. Benchmarks 5D2 There are somewhat different kinds of organisms in different places. Benchmarks 5D2 Environments are the space, conditions, and factors that affect an individual's and a populations ability to survive and their quality of life. NSES F4b Different places have different physical characteristics such as how warm it is, how wet it is, or types of rocks and soil are found there.
