Curriculum Organizing Questions

  • What types of plants, animals, soils, and conditions are in this habitat?
  • When we describe an environment, what types of information do we need to include?
  • What do you know about this environment?
Elaboration

Environments can be described by identifying the types of plants, animals, soils, and physical conditions (temperature, light, wind, wetness, etc.). Students should become acquainted with many different examples of ecosystems, starting with those near at hand. Benchmarks p. 115

Encourage students to ask questions for which they can find answers by looking carefully (using hand lenses when needed) and then checking their observations with each other.
