Dear Folks,
Today, I have launched this budget blog to be an open, transparent communication vehicle for any citizen who has a question, idea, or concern about the school budgets we will be creating for both the SAD #28 and Five Town CSD for the 2012-2013 school year. I want to make sure that you have a way that facilitates an easy way for any person to weigh in the school budget. I would ask that you keep in mind that everyone can read our communication, a reminder that civility and mutual respect are vital to this process. I will respond to any posting on the day it is received and value the wisdom of our taxpayers, staff and residents of our great communities. Let me assure you that I am well aware that these are tough economic times, requiring all of us to balance the needs of our terrific kids with the thinning wallets of our hardworking taxpayers. As we begin to develop our budgets, I will be posting them all as drafts in a PDF format, meaning that you will be able to examine this document, but obviously not change that particular posting. The state is in real financial crisis and I worry that the deficit the DHHS will affect school funding. I will try to keep all of you apprised of these developments also. Thanks for reading.
