Honors Horizons Anthropology

An interdisciplinary course specifically designed to weave together elements of anthropology, ancient peoples, and philosophy of science. Anthropology Horizons provides a seminar framework for highly able students to pursue investigations spanning the realm of anthropology. The course itself is a broad history of humankind as a conscious, thinking, and motivated population, intent on making meaning out of experience. The course traces some of the major steps and themes in the development of culture and science as expressions of the special gifts that have made human beings unique.  The development of culture in North America is emphasized. Anthropology Horizons pursues rigorous intellectual discourse on a broad range of related interdisciplinary topics. The pacing and expectations of the course are collegiate and emphasize multiple styles of thinking and learning that require independence and self-direction.  Two major projects are required.
