AP European History
Social Studies

Description:

Advanced Placement European History offers motivated students a broad survey of the events, movements, and important individuals that have shaped the history of Europe and the world from approximately 1350 to the present. The content is explored through three guiding themes: intellectual and cultural history, political and diplomatic history, and social and economic history. Within this context, students refine their ability to analyze and interpret historical documents. Students also continue to learn how to express their understanding in writing. Students taking A.P. European History are expected to take the College Board’s A.P. European History exam near the end of the course. Significant nightly reading of the textbook, documents, and other sources is required, as are written homework assignments and frequent writing of essays. The course is designed as a senior elective and offers a truly college-level experience.
