|This course covers United States history, geography, economy, government, cultural and intellectual events, and foreign policy from the late nineteenth century through the second World War. The first half of the course will focus on the Progressive Era, American imperialism, and the first World War. The second half of the course will focus on the 1920s, the Great Depression, the New Deal, and the Second World War. Throughout the course, regular connections will be drawn between historical events and contemporary developments. The course will regularly incorporate reading, writing, critical thinking, research, and discussion skills.
