Honors World History II
Social Studies

Similar to college preparatory sections, this course largely focuses on non-Western societies during the late modern period, including China, Africa, India, and the Middle East. Specific attention is devoted to the convergence of Western and native influences within these societies from the 19th century to the present. The course also includes a unit on twentieth-century global conflicts, including World War I and II. Students will be expected to read and write extensively and frequently, and to make thoughtful contributions to class. Students are expected to complete a formal, 8-10 page research paper on a historical topic as the final assessment for the course. Expectations for quality of writing are vigorous.
