Honors US History I-1
Social Studies

Description:

Like College Preparatory sections, this course will cover United States history, geography, economy, government, cultural and intellectual events, and foreign policy from the pre-colonial period through the Early Republic. The first quarter will focus on colonial and revolutionary events; the second on the United States Constitution, Bill of Rights, and their application, along with a brief summary of the first six presidents. Many of the critical thinking and writing activities will involve document-based essay prompts from the AP program. Students will frequently work with primary documents to answer crucial questions about the period or theme being studied. Additionally, students who enroll in this course will be required to complete a summer reading assignment prior to beginning the course. Students interested in taking AP U.S. History as juniors should take this course.
