ENG IV: Philosophy
English

Description:

How do you know the world you are experiencing right now is real? Do you have free will? What is love? These are just some of the questions we will tackle in Philosophy class. Philosophy is a discussion-based course focused on the critical analysis of philosophical ideas and an examination of how those ideas are present in the society around us. Texts studied in the course may include Sophie’s World, Brave New World, 1984, and Earth Abides. Since this is a discussion-based course, students need good listening skills and the ability and willingness to share their opinions orally and in writing. Weekly readings also require self-motivation and the ability to become interested in material that is challenging and thought-provoking.
