Why learn to prepare food? Because it is fun, creative and tasty!  Learn the basics of food preparation and “the why” (or food science) of food preparation. This is a course where science can taste good! Get acquainted with the essentials of planning, cooking, and creating in the kitchen. Students make their own pasta; create meringues; taste and use cheeses from around the world as well as understand the difference between baking powder and baking soda and much, much more. This introductory culinary arts course is for the student who likes food or is interested in food as a profession.  As skills develop and confidence is gained, students will also become more knowledgeable in nutrition and meal planning.
