Camden Hills Regional High School Alumni Scholarships

Students who have already graduated from Camden Hills Regional High School or Camden-Rockport High School are eligible to apply for scholarships in this packet.  Many of these scholarships are from outside organizations who use their own scholarship application and have their own deadlines.  Links to these scholarship websites and applications will be listed.  These outside scholarships have their own requirements. Please read the directions carefully so that you use the correct application and meet the organization deadlines.  You are responsible for submitting these applications and supporting documents yourselves.

Other organizations have chosen to use the CHRHS Alumni Scholarship Application.  These scholarships will all be due here in the Camden Hills Regional High School Counseling Office on April 1.  You will need to submit one application packet for each scholarship you are applying for.  This application packet must include one copy of the CHRHS Alumni Application form with your essay, one copy of your most recent transcript, and one letter of recommendation from a current college advisor, professor or employer.  Again, you must submit these items for each scholarship you are applying for.  

If the author of your letter of recommendation prefers to have the letter remain confidential, you may have the letter mailed directly to:

The following scholarships use the CHRHS Alumni Application and are all due here in the School Counseling Office on or before April 1.  Late applications will not be accepted.

The Amon Vaughan Memorial Scholarship
Amon was a graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School.  His passion was being a member of the Appleton Fire Department.  He wanted to expand this interest to the field of Emergency Medical Services.  Unfortunately, his life ended before he had a chance to do this.  His friends and family continue to pass on assistance in the form of this scholarship which supports a student with the same interest.

This scholarship is available to current members of the senior class as well as Alumni of Camden Hills Regional High School and Midcoast School of Technology who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in a continuing education program, university or vocational technical school in the field of Emergency Medical Services or Firefighting Services.

The Camden High School Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is available to current members of the senior class or any CHRHS (or Camden-Rockport High School) graduate who is a resident of any of the five towns: Camden, Rockport, Hope, Appleton or Lincolnville.  Financial need will be comnsidered.
Please note: this scholarship must be used in the year awarded.

The Francis Perry Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to CHRHS graduates who are attending vocational technical programs, students who are studying fine arts, or those who are studying nursing.  Emphasis is placed on financial need.

The Gardner Brown Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship may be awarded to a member of the senior class or Alumni of CHRHS.  Applicants must be an Appleton resident of good character, attedning a two-year or four-year college.

The Howard Tribou Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to current seniors or alumni of CHRHS in good standing; you must be a resident of Camden or Rockport.

The Lincolnville Business Group Scholarship
Applicants for this scholarship must be a current senior or CHRHS graduate.  Looking for well-rounded students who have been involved in extracurricular activities as well as community service.  Lincolnville residents preferred.

The Lincolnville Community Foundation Scholarship
Applicants must be a Lincolnville resident enrolled or enrolling in a 2 or 4-year college, university or vocational technical school who shows good character, good academic achievement as well as school and community involvement

The Rockport Garden Club Scholarship

This scholarship is available to current seniors as well as alumni of CHRHS who are local residents pursuing horticultural or environmental education

The Timothy Crockett Memorial Golf Scholarship
Applicants for this scholarship may be current seniors or Alumni of CHRHS who are interested in golf or were members of the golf team.

The West Bay Rotary Scholarship
This scholarship is for any CHRHS graduate (current senior or Alumni) who is entering any of the following:
1)  vocational and or technical schools for motor equipment maintenance and/or repair
2)  schools for medical technology/services to include nursing and dental hygiene
3)  apprenticeship programs for skilled trades and/or crafts
Recipients will be expected to make a brief presentation at a West Bay Rotary meeting AND West Bay Rotary scholarship recipients are required to earn a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester and maintain a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0  grading scale.

ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS FROM LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

Here you will find a list of scholarships available to alumni of Camden Hills Regional High School from local organizations.  These all have their own applications and deadlines.  Please read the directions carefully.  You are responsible for gathering and submitting the appropriate materials to the scholarship committees.  Be sure to pay attention to the deadlines on the scholarship applications.  Do NOT use the CHRHS Alumni Application for these.  And please do NOT mail your application here to the high school unless required by the scholarship organization. 

Barbara Thorndike Wiggin Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a female resident of Knox County who is entering either the field of teaching or a medical related field.

The Camden Garden Club Scholarship
This scholarship is available to residents of any of the five towns or Islesboro; majoring in the fields of conservation, environmental science, horticulture, landscape architecture, forestry, botany, crop and soil science, agricultural engineering, environmental and/or conservation issues of geology or other earth science, conservation law enforcement (game warden).

The deadline to apply for the Camden Garden Club Scholarship is April 30.  Applications must be complete and submitted to the CHRHS Counseling Office , 25 Keelson Dr, Rockport, ME 04856.

The Camden Lions Club Scholarship
This scholarship is available to  members of the senior class as well as Alumni of CHRHS (or C-RHS). Students must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year program.  Also considered are financial need and community service. Please note: the Camden Lions Club encourages applications from students atttending Trade Schools on an equal basis as those attending colleges and universities.

The Horch Roofing Scholarship
This scholarship is open to students graduating from high school in 2019 and going on to pursue a degree or certificate at a college/trade school OR current college/trade school students who are focusing on a trade-related field.  Students who wish to apply for this scholarship must be a Maine resident.

The Knox County Fish & Game Association Scholarship
This scholarship is available to any CHRHS graduate continuing their education in the fields of conservation, marine sciences, biology, forest management, game warden services, etc.

The Knox County Nursing Guild Scholarship
The Knox County Nurses Guild is a small group founded in September 1954 for the purpose of encouraging area graduates to enter the nursing profession.

This scholarship is open to any full-time student attending an accredited nursing program; applicants must be residents of Knox County.

The Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship
The Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship was established to grant financial assistance to selected graduates and post graduates of Camden Hills Regional High School; providing opportunities for enriching, educational life experiences that contribute to the development of responsible young adults.

The MLMS was established in memory of Michael D. Libby, who lost his life as a result of a snowmobile accident in March of 2007. Michael was a 2003 graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School and Mid Coast School of Technology. He was an outgoing young man with many friends, and he proudly participated in the CHRHS wrestling program. As a result of the support Michael received from mentors at both CHRHS and MCST, he went on to attend the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, North Carolina.

The Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship is open to graduates and post graduates of Camden Hills Regional High School who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in a continuing education program, university, vocational or technical school.  Special consideration is given to those who also attended Mid-Coast School
of Technology and plan to pursue a career in technical fields such as automotive technology or auto collision repair; who participated in Special Education programs; or who participated in a high school wrestling program.

The Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship Appplication is due April 1 and must be turned in to the CHRHS School Counseling Office, 25 Keelson Dr, Rockport, ME 04856

 

The Mid-Coast Wrestling Club Gibby Bryant Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to anyone who was a member of the CHRHS Windjammer Wrestling Team.  This includes wrestlers as well as team managers.

The Olive Coates Charitable Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students entering their sophomore year in college trhough graduate school.  Selections are based on scholastic ability and financial need. Students may be attending any college or university, business training, mechanical or technical training.

To apply, fill out and return the Olive Coates Memorial Scholarship Application attach all of the required supporting documentation, and return in its entirety to:

Applications must be received by April 15. (Please note: April 15 is a Monday holiday this year and the first day of April Vacation.  The school counseling office will be closed.  To ensure your scholarship application is received on-time, be sure it arrives here on or before Friday, April 12.

 

The Penobscot Bay Medical Center Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is available to any Maine residents of Knox, Waldo or Lincoln Counties entering or continuing a registered nursing program.

The Rockport High School Alumni Scholarship
Any CHRHS graduate whose parents or grandparents graduated from the old Rockport High School (not to be confused with Camden-Rockport High School) are eligible to apply.  Please indicate the name of your relative and the year of graduation on your application.

The Rockport Masonic Lodge Scholarship
This scholarship is open to any student who has shown academic achievement, participation in school activities, community service; demonstrates financial need; current senior or alumni of CHRHS.

The Waldo County General Hospital Scholarship
This scholarship is open to any resident of Waldo county pursuing an education in the health care field.  Financial need is a consideration.

The Marion Weidman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to current seniors and graduates of CHRHS who are residents of the town of Rockport.

The M. Alton French Scholarship
This renewable scholarship assists deserving young people who are residents of Lincolnville, Camden, Hope, Appleton, Rockport, Northport, and Islesboro (in that order of priority) pursuing post-secondary education at a college or university or other post-secondary course of study that is determined to be the equivalent.  The grants shall be made on the basis of financial need, record of scholarship and promise of leadership.

The Douglas Thom Memorial Fund
This scholarship is available to Camden residents only.  Financial need and the ability to complete goals will be considered when selecting recipients.

The George Stewart Scholarship Fund
The George Stewart Trust Fund was established to to support residents of (in order of priority): Town of Lincolnville, Waldo County, Knox County, who are pursuing secondary education, with preference for students in the field of horticulture. If no eligible applicants in that field apply, preference may be waived. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and a record of scholarship adequate for the educational program they have undertaken.

Guy Gannett Scholarship
Who: 
Student majoring in journalism or a field reasonably related, including forms of print, broadcast or electronic media; based on excellence in academic performance, financial need, and a demonstrated interest in a career in some form of journalism

Maine Vietnam Veterans’ Scholarship/Lest We Forget POW/MIA/KIA Scholarship Fund  
Who: 
Descendants from Maine veterans who served in the Vietnam theater (first priority) and children of veterans of the US Armed Services.  “Descendants” include natural or adopted children and their descendants.

Maine Innkeepers Association Scholarship
Who:  
Open to any Maine student (any age) pursuing a career in the lodging or foodservice field or any family members of Lodging or Allied members or their employees or their families pursuing a non-hospitality career. Applicants may be graduates of accredited high schools, high school students, post secondary students, or children of employees of the Maine Innkeepers Association member properties, including allied members. Preference will be given to applicants who are employees or family members of active or allied member properties.

Maine Legislature Memorial Scholarship Fund
Who:  Scholarships are available to full/part-time post-secondary students accepted or enrolled in a Maine college. Graduate students are also eligible.

Maine Masonic Continuing Education Scholarship
Who: Scholarships for $1000 each are available for 12 adults  pursuing higher education. May be full or part-time students. Students must meet federal criteria for an independent student. In addition, they must have exceptional financial need, have a serious educational plan, and contribute to the community.

Maine State Golf Association Scholarship
Who: Candidates shall have shown an active interest in Maine  golf (i.e. participating as a player, as a caddie, and/or working at a MSGA member golf shop or course

Maine State Nurses Association Scholarship
Who:  For Maine residents who are attending an accredited nursing program in Maine.

American Legion Scholarships

Who: There are three different scholarships available  with different criteria

Scholarships for Military Children

Who: Each year the program, supported through the military commisary system and administered by the Fisher House Foundation, awards hundreds of scholarships to qualified seniors planning to enroll in a four-year program of studies the following fall, or to college students already enrolled in a four-year program.

Application:  The application period for 2019 opens December 14, 2018 and applications must be submitted online at www.militaryscholar.org by February 15, 2019.
