|RTI Math Intervention Teacher|
Since receiving my Masters in 1989, my teaching career is most accurately characterized by change and variety. I have worked with homeschoolers and “unschoolers,” in multi-age classrooms and traditional classrooms. Early in my career, I worked in an experiential and integrated program in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While rearing two small children in Ann Arbor, Michigan I was able to work a flexible schedule with homeschooling families. As my children grew, I took a position teaching 4th, 5th and 6th grades in a multi-age program and an early “place based” kind of curriculum. When I moved to Maine in 1999, I filled in briefly at Hope School as a physical education teacher and, the following year, I filled in as a long term substitute in the 4th grade at Appleton Village School. In 2001, I was hired to teach at the Ashwood Waldorf School in Rockport. I took a group of children through three years there for their 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Then, in 2005, ready to settle down and stay for awhile, I accepted a teaching position at Camden Rockport Middle School where I taught 5th grade for five years. In 2011, I moved to the position as a 6th grade Math teacher.
My two children, Henry and Madeline, have grown. When I am not teaching, I enjoy gardening and hiking, sketching and contra dancing whenever I can!
