Mr. Ian McKenzie
Although I began working at Camden-Rockport Middle School in 2005, I began my career in this building as a sixth grader at Mary E. Taylor Middle School in 1988. A proud former Schooner and Windjammer, I am thrilled to work in the school and in the district that provided me with a top-flight education, great experiences, and wonderful memories.
After leaving Camden-Rockport Middle School, I graduated with a double major in History and Religion; however, I never quite left Knowlton Street, working as a substitute teacher during vacations.
From Vassar, I lived in New York City for time before pursuing jobs in broadcasting. I worked at television and radio stations in Massachusettes and Vermont. I finally moved back to Camden and began working at Camden-Rockport Middle School full-time in 2006, first as an Educational Technician and now as the Technology Integration Teacher.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking as well as coaching basketball, soccer, and softball. My other passion is music. I have enjoyed being part of an all-teacher rock band, "Just Teachers" since 2008.
I am excited about the great work staff and teachers are doing with technology in the classroom. The iPads and laptops that our state and district have provided our students give them a great opportunity to explore, create, and interact with the material in many ways. I look forward to see how this technology continues to evolve over the next couple of years.
