|MS Math Teacher|
I have lived in Maine for 20 years, first on Mt. Desert Island when I attended the College of the Atlantic. I started my teaching career in 1999 at Mt. Desert Elementary School and then moved to the midcoast area to take a teaching position at the Ashwood Waldorf School. I taught there for 11 years, in grades 1-8 (teachers travel through the grades with their class), and in every academic subject area. I also was the middle school math teacher at Ashwood for 6 years and piloted an accelerated math program. For the last three years, I taught 6th through 9th grade math at the Lincolnville Central School and Oceanside West High School. I truly love teaching math and working with middle school students. I love the particular challenge of understanding how a student is thinking about a math problem---whether right or wrong, there is always something to learn.
I live in Hope with my wife and two sons. I enjoy outdoor activities, especially riding my bike and canoeing, I like to cook, and do projects around my house.
