Bio:

I began my high school teaching career in 1976 at Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine.  After receiving an MS from UNH, I moved to Connecticut where I taught at Kent School (a boarding school in the Northwest corner of CT) for 12 years.  My next move was to Yarmouth, Maine where I worked at North Yarmouth Academy for 4 years before coming back to Camden and accepting a teaching position here at CHRHS in 2001.

After college, I moved to Rockport in 1971 and worked at various jobs before taking the job at Berwick Academy.  I worked for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School for a year after six months of learning the boat-building trade at Penobscot Boat Works.  I also worked as a carpenter on the construction of the Samoset and a waiter at Peter Ott's Tavern.  For a time, I ran my own carpentry / handyman business.  In 1974, I volunteered to help at the Riley School in Glen Cove.  It was there that I discovered I liked working with children.  I believe it was during that year I became a long-term subsitute at Camden High School for Richard Blouin.  At that point, I decided I wanted to teach high school mathematics.  My first actual teaching position was as a teacher's aide at the Hope Elementary School in 1975.  No math teaching position was open at the high school and I decided to accept an open position at Berwick Academy.

After leaving the area in 1976, my wife and children and I returned to Camden most summers until we made the decision to move back here permanently in 1998.  We have two sons and a daughter, all married, and six grandchildren.
