Latin II
Mr. Kinney
Room 220 - Period Red 1 / Red 4

Course website:

Latin II continues with the Ecce Romani series. In this course, students continue to expand their vocabulary and begin to translate longer and more complex passages. In Latin II, students learn important grammatical principles like the passive voice and imperfect tense. Students also study a variety of cultural topics including Roman education, calendrical systems, and sports.

Latin II is an elective. Students who choose to take Latin are expected to work hard and be active and enthusiastic participants in class. Students are expected to always bring to class their text book and notebook. If a student is absent from class, he or she is responsible for promptly completing any missed work. Students are also expected to ask questions if they don't understand the material. Do not be afraid to make mistakes.

Grading Policy:

Quizzes: 40%
Tests: 30%
Homework 20%
Participation: 10%

Students are expected to be reliable and conscientious in their preparation for class. Homework will be checked in class everyday and will often be collected. Late homework, projects, and papers will not be accepted during the last two weeks of a quarter. There are many opportunities for extra credit including optional quarter projects. Please see me for more information about extra credit assignments.

Homework assignments are posted daily on the board in class as well as on the wikispace.
