Superintendent Libby reads to CRES students during Read Across America Week

Earlier this month, Camden Rockport Elementary School proudly joined schools across the country in celebrating Read Across America Week 2026, a nationwide initiative that promotes a love of reading and highlights the importance of literacy for children of all ages. The week was filled with engaging literacy activities, themed days, and special guest readers.

I had  the privilege of participating as a guest reader and reading to four classrooms of CRES students. I loved the time I spent in those classrooms and interacting with our curious Kindergarten students!

Moments like these serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of early literacy and the joy that books can bring. Our youngest learners demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity, and a genuine love of stories that reinforces the incredible work happening every day in our classrooms.

I am grateful to our dedicated teachers and staff for creating such meaningful experiences for our students and for continuing to nurture a culture of reading across our schools.

Sincerely,

Maria Libby, Superintendent
